Surrey based Microsoft Gold Partner TVision Technology Ltd has expanded its range of certified competencies by adding a Silver level competency in Business Intelligence (BI).

TVision Technology is totally focused on the implementation and support of Microsoft’s ERP solution, Dynamics NAV, and the new competency will further expand TVision’s ability to enable its clients to gain ever greater benefit from their investment.

“At TVision, we find that most companies already have the tools to deliver great BI,” Nicki Stewart, Sales Director, TVision Technology Ltd. “We are aiming to help clients understand what they can achieve with what they already have, without going out shopping for yet another product that offers a magic solution.”

The Microsoft Gold competency for BI requires a significant level of licence sales so was never an option for TVision.  “We’re really excited at gaining this recognition of our work with clients in helping them gain valuable business insight with the software they already have in place.  We are always looking to build long term relationships rather than just maximising licence sales.”

TVision obtained Gold ERP partner status over seven years ago, reflecting their commitment to providing and supporting Microsoft Dynamics NAV.  The addition of the Business Intelligence competency reflects TVision’s aim of helping NAV users gain maximum value and benefit from the management information available from their NAV investment.

Microsoft’s Business Intelligence competency requires proven skills and knowledge in the Microsoft products (primarily SQL server and its capabilities for SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Reporting Services), licensing and the sales proposition, including how the Microsoft approach compares to competitors.

Technology analysts Gartner have put Microsoft’s BI offerings firmly ahead of the competition in the Magic Quadrant released earlier this year. It shows Microsoft excelling in terms of “Completeness of Vision” and “Ability to Execute”. The key strengths identified by Gartner include the fact that Microsoft’s approach is extremely cost effective as licensing / licence agreements are largely already in place; the tools are very familiar to users and the technology is familiar and available to internal technology teams.

“Gartner highlights an interesting point in that many Excel users are disaffected BI users, fed up with struggling to gain the analysis they need through overly complex enterprise BI tools,” Nicki Stewart, “and with the improvements in Excel 2013, the simplicity of the Microsoft proposition is matched by the analysis and graphical tools available.”

Its new Microsoft Silver competency in Business Intelligence will complement TVision’s continued main focus on ERP delivery where the company is dedicated to maintaining Gold status.
