As usual at this time of year, Microsoft has completed the close of their financial year 2015 (year end is June) and announced the successes of the last year. The presentation back to partners is confidential; however, we are able to summarise key trends and the great news that yet again Dynamics NAV is the poster child.

As a Microsoft product, Dynamics NAV saw the second highest year on year growth worldwide. In the UK, Dynamics NAV proved even more popular than last year with 50% growth in new customers, year on year.

The surprise was the growth in subscription licensing. NAV in the Cloud is great; however, you can achieve the “In and On” environment (“in” Office 365 and “on” Windows Azure) with the far cheaper perpetual licence.

We have yet to see the comparison in performance between all four Dynamics ERP solutions (could it be that the truth for Dynamics AX is too hard?!). We do know that NAV is far and away surpassing its old mid-market rival, Dynamics GP.

At TVision our prediction for FY16 is that Software as a Service (SaaS) will continue to be slow growing and primarily the choice of companies looking to avoid upfront investment. What we expect to see more of is perpetual licence deployment on Windows Azure. This leverages Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providing a low cost, low maintenance route to reliable, accessible systems.

Very much looking forward to the launch of Dynamics NAV 2016 and another fantastic year for Dynamics NAV customers, old and new.
