TVision Technology was pleased to present at Recruitment International’s annual Finance Director Forum held in London last week.
The event was hosted by Gateley LLP and chaired by Lloyds Bank. It was attended by over 60 finance directors from across the recruitment industry, all eager to share experiences, gain insights and network with their peers.

TVision Technology have been implementing and supporting Microsoft Dynamics NAV for the recruitment sector for over 15 years; both as a pure finance system and as Agency Time, the combined finance and pay/bill solution. It was this experience that event organiser Recruitment International was keen to bring to the forum, “As an organisation who are heavily invested in the recruitment sector TVision brought a lot to the conversations both during the conference and in the networking sessions afterwards,” Teri Etherington, Recruitment International.

TVision Technology’s Client Engagement Director Nicki Stewart was invited to present. The presentation focused on the challenges of knowing what IT project would bring the best return on investment, or as Nicki Stewart put it, “a consideration of where you should spend your money.”

The presentation began with a straw poll to see how many of the attendees had been involved with implementing new back office or ERP systems. Nicki Stewart comments, “It occurred to me that with organisations changing systems on average every seven to ten years, it would be possible to have a long career without personally experiencing an implementation. The straw poll indicated that just under half the room had never been involved with such a project and only two people had gone through it more than three times.”

The light-hearted presentation provided an entertaining look at the technology challenges faced by the industry in the last twenty years as well as statistics on how recruitment industry IT spend compared to other industries throughout Europe. It closed with advice and observations from TVision’s own recruitment sector clients. “I speak with FDs about system change every week and so it was observations from this and the kind input from TVision’s clients that was shared with the delegates at the forum,” says Nicki Stewart. “It was pleasing that the presentation was well received.”

Other speakers included Emerson Nash’s Jess Coles and Galago Group’s Keith Boyce; both seasoned industry finance directors related real life experiences. Jess Coles spoke of the challenges faced by agencies that experience rapid growth; Keith spoke on the experience of selling an agency. They were joined by industry experts who provided advice on a range of issues faced by the industry including tax and legal compliance related to changes in legislation and options for funding.

The event closed with a networking lunch where the morning sessions were lively debated. “The whole team at Recruitment International were delighted to have TVision Technology sponsoring and speaking at the Finance Directors Forum on 21st April,” Teri Etherington, concludes. “It was brilliant to have them there and we hope they are able to join in the next Recruitment International events.”
