Continuing from the previous post around ERP in SMEs, here is my second commonly experienced objection to ERP – Budgets.

“We don’t have the money for that sort of thing” – lack of ERP Budgets

The movement of many business software solutions to the cloud over the last few decades has really assisted businesses that are experiencing periods of growth. the Cloud has enabled businesses to find a solution that makes the lives easier of anyone requiring access to internal BI systems. With access to an anytime anywhere solution, people are no longer chained to their desks when they need to drill down into the data they need to review and report on.

With cloud solutions, there’s an immediate reduction of up-front costs that can transform the views of stakeholders when it comes to making the decision to create an ERP budget. Of course, it’s not totally cost free but the value of experience will always pay for itself, and a correctly implemented ERP can lead to real savings across your entire business. For example, it can reduce the need for new hires by improving efficiency, can improve cashflow, can improve supply chain, distribution and inventory management, and of course it can ease compliance and regulatory reporting requirements that are industry specific. It has also been reported that operational costs can be reduced by 15% for companies that adopt a flexible ERP solution.

There are many business challenges to driving ERP adoption in an organisation and our infographic talks about some of the important benefits to businesses of ERP. View our Blueprint for ERP Success infographic that tells you all about the advantages of ERP that are no longer confined to larger scale organisations.
