Danusia Jolliffe – Marketing & Customer Services Director

Danusia Jolliffe – the TVision Marketing Director is answering the questions this month. Danusia has a background in B2B and B2C Marketing, working for both blue chip and smaller organisations throughout her marketing career. Although her transition to marketing has been an unusual one, her background in Science as a Chemistry undergrad and Physical Chemistry postgrad has helped her with the communications styles necessary for sharing succinct marketing messages to various audiences.

Name someone you admire, and why?
Marie Curie-Sklodowska – a Polish scientist that succeeded in a male dominated environment.

What’s a typical day like for you?
Every day at work is different which is one of the many reasons that I love my job so much. I look after marketing campaigns, social media, events, PR, advertising, newsletters, and so much more in between.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I got to grade 5 on the violin as a teenager, and still have my Grandfather’s antique violin at home. I wish I’d carried on up to grade 8 really, but earning money doing a part-time job seemed more appealing than spending time practising.

If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be.
Anywhere warm and sunny – I’m so bored of rubbish weather. Maybe back to the Maldives where I went on my honeymoon – it was truly beautiful, peaceful and of course romantic.

Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I honestly can’t remember. To be honest, it was probably to be a teacher and follow in my mum’s footsteps.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me……. Getting up early to take one my eldest son to play football. Go Woking Cougars!

How do you want people to remember you?
Always chatty, always willing to listen, and always there to help a friend in need.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
I’m a planner, I love organising and have no problems multi-tasking. Those skills are critical when you have various projects on the go at once.

Name three words that you describe you: Loyal, Determined, Organised.

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
I hope they’d say I’m friendly and supportive, ready to offer practical advice, and always willing to lend an ear and act as a sounding board for ideas.

Name something surprising on your bucket list.
I’ve always wanted to have singing lessons.

Describe a personal goal that you want to accomplish in the next year?
I want to really focus on my health and wellbeing. I want to get fitter and stronger, and finally run 5K non stop before I tackle a 10K or maybe even a marathon for charity.

What publications do you regularly read?
I’m not going to lie, I love reading magazines!!! Runners World – although I’m a jogger not a runner, Women’s Health – for some fitspo, and Sainsbury’s magazine – for the recipes. I also love reading novels on my Kindle – although I do prefer holding a real book in my hands.

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
If it’s not doing stuff with my husband and two boys, I have to say netball. I used to play at school and then joined a competitive league team after a 15 year gap. And I’ve been playing again ever since, I love the camaraderie of my team – Starz.

What are some causes you care about?
I do an annual Race for Life in memory of my Babcia Jadzia who passed away following a battle with breast cancer – this year will be my 16th consecutive fundraising event. If you have any spare pennies I’d appreciate the support on my fundraising page. I also donate money to the Stroke Association each month as both of my Mum’s parents suffered strokes.

What do you do with friends in your spare time?
My husband and I host a lot of parties, our friends all know how much we love board games – we must have 100+ at home. Most weekends we are busy doing something with friends or family, as well as football training and matches with the kids.

What would be your personal motto?
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” Henry Ford, i.e. everything is just mind over matter!
