It hasn’t taken long for Nicki to produce the twins. Elective ‘C’ today (10th December 2010) and there’s now 2 more boys in the Stewart household. Hamish and Logan are their names and each weighed in at around 6 lbs. So congratulations to Nicki and her family. If she doesn’t know what sleep-deprivation torture feels like already she soon will.
Someone else who may find his nights disturbed is the burglar who broke in to our Technical Director’s house and stole half the computing power of Hampshire. All of his machines are encrypted (as are all the TVision laptops that go out to site and Desktops in the office) except for one which was used as a simple Terminal Emulator. As some of you know, in his spare time Rob works on the Putty Terminal Emulator product https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/licence.html and so it was his test machine that the burglar took.
Of course, the next time the computer was connected to the Web, Rob was able to spot it and reported its existence on-line to the police. A number of weeks elapsed (apparently while BT came back to the Police with the address); the address was then kept under surveillance for a few weeks; and lo and behold the laptop has re-appeared and the burglar caught red-handed after Rob’s report.
So the upshot of all this is don’t mess with our Technical Director or else we’ll set the Stewart boys on you; or at least in 20 years time……
