Not that it has taken us a fortnight to recover . . .review of day three, the last day of London International Wine Fair (LIWF). And this was the last day, from next year it will be the London Wine Fair and is moving to Olympia. So how was it for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, the only tech stand at the show?

As regular readers will know, it wasn’t just Microsoft Dynamics NAV that we were showcasing; our stand was to spread the word about the Wine System, TVision’s configuration of NAV that supports the operational processes of Wine Merchants. We always knew that we were unlikely to be of interest to the target visitors; our interest was in catching the eye of fellow exhibitors.

The show is aimed at restaurants, sommeliers and retailers looking to improve their wine lists. in part it also aims at wine merchants with small producers keen to find UK based merchants for their wines. The latter would be target audience for TVision’s Wine System; the former were welcome to chat and chocolate! The merchants generally have their own stands as their audience is the restaurants, sommeliers and retailers . . . However, many of the large merchants had decided to stay away this year.

Merchants such as TVision clients Enotria and Liberty Wines felt that LIWF had lost its focus. The shock of big names pulling out did result in last minute positive changes to the LIWF, the visitor target of 15,000 was reduced to 10,000 and this was exceeded. 2013 LIWF may have been a “swan-song” but the event still maintained a lively, upbeat atmosphere and the promise of greater things for 2014. Bring on Olympia!
