Woking, Surrey – 12 February 2024: It is with a heavy heart that TVision Technology announces the death of its Chairman, Richard Thompson. Richard died on 9th February 2024 as a result of complications following a major heart attack. He was 65.

Richard, along with current Managing Director, Pippa Odell, and also Robert de Bath, Technical Director, started TVision Technology in December 1999. Following 17 years in charge, Richard stepped down from the role as Managing Director in 2016, whilst still proudly looking on the business from afar, to pursue his lifelong dream of studying for a Doctor of Philosophy. He achieved his PhD focused on the Physics of Condensed Matter from University of Surrey.

Prior to establishing TVision Technology, Richard qualified as both an accountant and a barrister and worked at various city accounting firms before migrating toward the world of selling and successfully implementing financial software. It was at this time that the business idea that eventually became TVision Technology came into being.

Beyond the world of work, Richard was an avid sailor and supporter of Irish Rugby. He spent much of 2023 travelling including time in the USA, Amazon and Galapagos Islands and delighted at always being able to find a bar showing the game.

Remembering Richard, Pippa Odell, Managing Director at TVision Technology said: “We all loved working with Richard, spending time with him was a joy. He felt the workplace should be fun and had a genuine love of technology; making it easy for him to navigate the fast and complex evolution of ERP software. For many of the team, losing him is akin to losing a father figure who helped them develop their careers.”
