Mike Perks – IT Consultant
Mike is one of our Consultants who provides IT Consultancy and IT Implementation advice and recommendations, as well as IT Project Management and Business systems support.
Name someone you admire, and why?
My wife. She manages a household with Mr Grumpy and three children, whilst working full time!
What’s a typical day like for you?
Up at 6am, out the door as soon as possible. Usually a 2 hour drive to a client site. After work ferrying at least one of three children to a club or social event!
Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
When I was 15 I got a silver medal at the National Judo Championships.
If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be: An autumn or winter beach in Cornwall.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me… Standing in a field watching my son play football.
How do you want people to remember you?
Friendly family man that got on with everyone.
What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
Being a techie that can talk in English about technical things with non techie people.
Name three words that you describe you: Busy, tired, grumpy (Ed: I don’t think you’re grumpy at all Mike!)
How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
Reliable and easy going.
Name something surprising on your bucket list?
I would love to build a kit car.
Describe a personal goal that you want to accomplish in the next year?
I got into running a few years ago, but let this slip in the last year. I’d love to aim to run a marathon.
What publications do you regularly read?
I generally read the news and sports news on the BBC website, if that counts!
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
Watching my son playing football.
What are some causes you care about?
I try to support local causes, especially those supporting the children in our community.
What do you do with friends in your spare time?
Having three young children, I can only dream of spare time!
What would be your personal motto?
It’s not my motto but one I like and is quite true, especially with IT is: “Everyone makes mistakes. The trick is to make mistakes when nobody is looking.”
