Barack Obama. On particular dark days during lockdown when the world’s leaders seemed to not have a clue what to do, I would sometimes watch some of his old White House speeches and wish he was still someone in charge. He always comes across as a moral leader who is gracious, humane, nurturing and self-deprecating. He is also very funny and quite obviously loves his wife, his children and his country.

What’s a typical day like for you?
Up at 7am and then a frenzy of activity for the next couple of hours getting my children ready and out the door for school and me ready for work. Work life in a marketing team is a very varied one. Sometimes I can be planning marketing campaigns to generate new leads. Other times I can be writing the copy for the website or emails that will be used in the implementation of those campaigns. And other times sourcing new content to ensure that we have something new, informative and interesting to say to our potential and existing customers.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I was an English teacher in a past life. This means that I am rather pedantic when it comes to spelling and grammar.

If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be?
A tropical island, snorkelling in a sea teeming with tropical fish.

Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A teacher. Or a writer.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…
Making pancakes for my family. Ever since the beginning of lockdown, I have made pancakes for breakfast for my husband and children. After that, it is often a trip to our allotment for my husband and I to check on veggies and do a spot of weeding.

How do you want people to remember you?
As a good friend.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
I pride myself on my organisational skills. I am also a task completer, so I won’t rest until the job is done and it is done to my satisfaction. I also have a great attention to detail. I am generally the one that notices the spelling and grammatical errors.

Name three words that you describe you.
Hard-working, committed, funny (or at least in my own head).

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
A stalwart who works hard and tries their best.

Name something surprising on your bucket list
It’s not that surprising, but one day I would like to either go back to university and study something new or write a book.

Describe a personal goal that you want to accomplish in the next year?
Starting this job has been a personal goal for me. I took some extended medical leave after having open-heart surgery in 2018 and my goal for this year was to return to work.

What publications do you regularly read?
I subscribe to Empire magazine and love it when the new edition pops through my post box every month. Other than that, I am more of a fiction books kind of girl.

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
Catching up on the many podcasts that I subscribe to. I am currently obsessed with “You’re dead to me” which is a history podcast from Greg Jenner who is the chief historian for Horrible Histories.

What are some causes you care about?
Like so many at the moment, I am passionate about the NHS and what it does for people in this country, regardless of who they are. In particular, I am a supporter of Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital whose staff saved my life and took amazing care of me when I was in hospital there in October 2018.

What do you do with friends in your spare time?
I belong to two book clubs so I regularly meet with them during my spare time. I would say that there isn’t always a great deal of reading done, but we do enjoy the time we have catching up with each other and sampling a glass or two of liquid refreshment.

What would be your personal motto?
We can’t change people, we can only change our response to them.
